The dolphinarium building and aquarium were commissioned on the 30th of December in 1998.
The performance pool is 20 m (65.6 ft) in diameter and 6 m (19.7 ft) in depth. The aquarium holds 800 people. The Dolphinarium popularizes scientific knowledge on marine mammals.
Various species of marine mammals perform for public under command of their trainers in the Dolphinarium. These include stellar sea lions also known as the northern sea lions, belugas or white whales, and bottlenose dolphins, which come from the scientific and research station situated in the village of Maliy Utrish (Krasnodar Krai, the coast between the cities of Novorossiysk and Anapa). The Sochi Dolphinarium is a branch of the Utrish Dolphinarium.
Performances last for about an hour. After the show is ended, those, who will, can get closer acquainted with the performers and take photos with them.
