The Moscow Regional Russian State Ballet Theatre (the Theatre or the State Russian Ballet, for short) is one of Russia's leading ballet enterprises.
In contrast to other ballet companies that have lately been formed as one-off non-repertory companies, the Russian State Ballet has been a resident company for decades; the company has its own stage and consists of highly-professional actors who have graduated from the best educational institutions of the cities of Moscow, Saint Petersburg, Novosibirsk and Perm.
The Russian State Ballet is a full-fledged theatre. This is confirmed by the Theatre's repertoire, which includes feature-length ballet shows of the serious style and a huge number of concert acts that are used for building thematic programmes of classical and contemporary dance.
The main principle of the Theatre is to carefully preserve the masterpieces of Russian and Western European ballet and to introduce the broad audience to the best samples of choreography art, presenting them at a high level of performance and of set design. At the same time, the Theatre is a kind of experimental laboratory that reveals talents of ballet actors and ballet masters through their innovative aspirations.
The Russian State Ballet is internationally recognised and has received the Golden Ticket Award that symbolises the 100,000 spectators that visited the Theatre's shows during a single tour around Germany alone.
Among the Theatre's distinctions are the title of Europe's Best Ballet Company, which has been granted to the Theatre by the Association of West-European Impresarios, the Most Grandioso Performance Award and others.
The Theatre's actors hold Russia's honorary titles and titles received from various international competitions; they have been awarded with the golden medals of the Italian cities of Cento and Mirandola; they have also received the titles of Honorary Citizen from cities of the US, Mexico and other countries.
