In 1934, a decree of the People's Commissariat (Ministry) for Education (decree no. 219 of 15th March 1934, "On Deploying a Network of Collective and State Farm Theatres") created the First Moscow Region Drama Theatre.
In 1992, when the theatre network of Moscow Region was being reorganised, a decree (no. 242 of 1st September 1992) of the Committee for Culture at the government of Moscow Region (officially known as the Executive Committee of the Council of People's Deputies of Moscow Region) established the Moscow Region State Chamber Theatre (the Theatre, for short) based on the First Moscow Region Drama Theatre.
