The really unique Theatre with the Bluebird, the bird of happiness, on a golden harp, the symbol of the Theatre, above is called the eighth wonder of the world.
Unusual is the Theatre… It has large lobbies with small sofas and laced bridges above the foyer. Heroes of favourite fairy-tales welcome kids from the bridges. What funny door-handles! They have a form of a violin clef… Musical ring is different from any other… Careful and affable teachers welcome spectators…
If you go upstairs to the rotunda, you will find an aviary. It is very light there; and blue sky can be seen through the windows.
In the upper foyer, there is a large hall with sculptures of fifing Lel, Boyan playing the gusli (the oldest Russian multi-string plucked instrument), and Orpheus with cithara. And next there is a unique gigantic Palekh casket; the board is of a man's height and the largest one of this kind in the world. This room has a secret, it is musical. Episodes of Ruslan and Ludmila by Mikhail Glinka, The Snow Maiden by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, The Magic Flute by Wolfgang Mozart, and Romeo and Juliet by William Shakespeare are depicted on the board.
Every detail is for children there. There is a postal box on the tree trunk with a little bronze bear under it. There is a cafe in the winter garden and a room for little brothers and sisters. Those kids who can not watch the performance till the end can play with the theatre's teachers, listen to fairy-tales or take part in orchestra of musical toys. Nothing is broken or crushed there. Children care about their theatre.
The Theatre has two auditoriums. The Grand Auditorium seats 1,100 people and has three scenes: the main one and two side scenes with fantastic curtain with motifs of Sadko opera by Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov. The Small Auditorium is concert and seats 300 people.
The Theatre's air is full of faith in the great power of art and aspiration to come nearer to Music, the loftiest art… That is great that people can be tangent to the world of theatre and music when they are children. This can affect a person's moral make up and the whole life.
November 21, 1965. This was the day when the Theatre was opened with the Morozko opera by Mikhail Krasev. It was the first professional theatre in the world where high music art — opera, ballet, and symphony — is directed to children. Now the Theatre is named after its founder, Natalya Sats.
