The Central Museum of the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War (the Museum, for short) was opened on 9th May 1995, in order to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Russian victory in the 1941–1945 Great Patriotic War (a part of the Second World War). The Museum is the centre of the Pobedy (Victory) Memorial Complex and is situated in Moscow on the Poklonnaya Hill in the Pobedy (Victory) Park.

The Museum hosts two expositions: an art exposition and a war history exposition that presents a chronicle of the troubled war years. The expositions are distinguished by audiovisual complexes (6 video walls) that show authentic documentaries of the war years, rare photographs, maps and archive materials.

The Museum is equipped with an automated system for searching information on soldiers fallen during the Great Patriotic War.
