The bust monument to Alexander Pushkin was opened on the 14th of June in 1969 near the Donetsk Music and Drama Theatre.
The monument was designed by sculptor Naum Ginzburg and architect Tomillo.
The monument is a bronze bust that is 1.2 metres (3.95 feet) in height.
The bust was cast in the Rutchenkovsk Ore Repair Works of Mining Equipment and originally installed at a square pedestal made of four rectangular blocks faced with black granite plates. The size of the pedestal was 3 by 0.2 by 0.8 metres (9.85 by 0.65 by 2.60 feet). Later the pedestal was replaced with a column.
The monument was opened in the year of the 170th anniversary of the poet's birth. It was also the day of the 100th anniversary of Donetsk. A park was laid out around the monument.
