Kiev's Kinopalace Cinema (the Cinema, for short), the leader among the modern cinemas, was opened in May 1998, becoming the first cinema of the Kinopalace Network, Ukraine's largest cinema network.
The Cinema's auditorium is equipped with the Dolby Digital Surround EX sound system and the JBL acoustics as well as with a Perlux panoramic screen.
On 31 October 2008, the Kinopalace Cinema reopened its doors after a grandiose redesign, becoming Ukraine's first cinema equipped with the DP-2000 Dolby 3D kit, a digital "tapeless" projector produced by the Barco company. The auditorium has also been redesigned: now it features 122 comfortable seats and provides a perfect view from any point.
The Cinema's cosy foyer houses a popcorn-bar and a cocktail-bar, and it regularly hosts parties and presentations. During school holidays and public holidays, the Cinema holds various events for children.
The Donetsk Theatre of Opera and Ballet was founded in 1932 in the cities of Lugansk and Vinnitsa, based on the Lugansk Theatre of Opera and Ballet and Vinnitsa's Itinerant Opera of Right-Bank Ukraine.
The Theatre's first season was opened on 1 September 1932 with Aleksandr Borodin's opera "Prince Igor".
