The Kadr Cinema (the Kadr or the Cinema, for short) is Ukraine's first and only children's cinema. The Cinema's repertoire always contains films and cartoons for children.
The Kadr is first of all distinguished from cinemas for grown-ups by its size: its small auditorium (seating only 78 people) has room for a relatively small screen only, approximately 2 meters by 4 meters (6 feet to 12 feet). Nevertheless, in terms of sound, this "little one" is as good as other popular Kiev's cinemas, thanks to the Dolby Digital system that provides natural sound.
The Kadr was constructed as early as in the 1950s and was lately falling into decay. However, the problem was duly noticed, and in 2003 major repairs started. The repairs cost around 2 million hryvnias; on 25 December, the Cinema was solemnly reopened. Now, the Cinema boasts a beautiful, cosy auditorium, soft chairs, the Dolby Surround sound, a modern screen and a cafe that seats 36 people and where children are offered a special children's menu featuring sweets and juices. Here, at the Cinema, parents may also book a birthday party or other celebrations for their children.
The Florentsia Cinema (the Cinema, for short) offers its visitors to enjoy their cosy evenings. The repertoire is meant for very different tastes. Everybody can find a film there that he or she will definitely like. The Cinema offers the latest and the most interest films only. This is the place where you can relax and make the evening of viewing a...
