Askania-Nova Zoo, Zoo of the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve (Nova Kakhovka)

Askania-Nova Zoo (the zoo of the Askania-Nova Biosphere Reserve) is 61.1 ha (151 acres) in area. It has trees and shrubs, bodies of water, winter cages for animals, small open-air cages where hoofed mammals and birds are shown. The Zoo has over 110 species that are 4,000 in number including 27 rare animals listed in the IUCN Red List and the Ukraine Red Book.

The Zoo is a base for enrichment of Ukraine fauna, species diversity of other zoos, natural reserves, hunts. Every year about 1,000 animals of 62 species are born in the Zoo.

The Zoo collection of animals has a status of National Heritage of Ukraine.
