The Church of the Resurrection is situated in Torgovaya Square, opposite to the shopping street. Smooth facade walls are decorated with corner pilasters; windows are not framed but have a cornice of small arches above that play with light and shadows under the sun. A pyramidal roof is completed with one drum. Its walls are adorned by platbands with broken lining gables. This is the only decor example of the early-18th-century Suzdal architecture. A dome has a bit enlarged onion shape.
A small porch on the southern facade side cannot be seen in any other Suzdal building. Two short large columns are completed with a gable featuring a ridge roof. There are two small arches with a bead between them under the gable. Brick stairs lead to a portal with beautiful figured grille. From the east side, there is a wide altar semicircle. From the west, a porch with a cornice with brick corners overhanging and ceramic balusters.
Inside the Church has two-column vaults. Arch walls go from the columns and have vaults between them. The central rectangular between columns gradually changes into an octagonal with one more drum above it.
The 1719 bell tower, attached to the north-western corner of the porch, is quite high. A high octagonal on a short rectangular is completed with a spherical roof with a long spire. The quadrangle's facades are decorated with squares, "shirinkas", with tiles inserted. A cornice separating the facade from belfry's openings has a band of tiles with blue leaves against yellowish background. Eight openings, divided by double semi-columns transforming into arches, crown the bell tower.
The Resurrection Church was founded long ago. An inscription made on a bell evidences that it existed as early as the 16th century. "The bell was cast on summer 1592 for Suzdal Church of the Resurrection situated behind the mall." The 1617 city inventory records say: "There is the Church of the Resurrection with a wooden top behind the mall and another Church of St. Leonty of Rostov with a refectory."
The 1719 fire burned away the Resurrection Church. However, in 1720, it was reconstructed.
The Church of the Resurrection dominated other city churches. All bishops coming to the Suzdal diocese visited this church first and then the religious procession headed to the Cathedral of the Nativity, where a service was held.
