In the 1990s, an Orthodox community was formed in Reutov. At first, services were conducted in a flat, but the mayor took the trouble to establish a church. The whole city participated in the construction. In less than three years, the church was erected to the design of the architect M. Pankratov. On 3 October 1999, it was consecrated.

The Church of Our Lady of Kazan is a bright example of contemporary church architecture; it is a Novgorod style church with one dome.

The main sanctuary is devoted to the Our Lady of Kazan Icon; the right-side altar — to newly canonised Martyrs and Confessors of Russia; the left-side altar — to the Saint Most Orthodox Prince Alexander Nevsky. A baptismal All Saints' church is arranged on the basement floor.

Relics of the priest-martyrs Alexandra (Smirnova) and Feodora (Remizova), shot in 1918, rest in the Church of Our Lady of Kazan. The Church has a reliquary with a relic of Saint Seraphim of Sarov and shrines with relics of Saints.
